The Tailevu Naitasiri Club Lokia Landing’s debut in the Vodafone National Club Championship will be cherished says club manager, Michael Prasad. Prasad said they came to the championship as underdogs and achieved a lot.
“We came into this championship and have achieved a lot in terms of playing experience,” Prasad said.
He said they did not have any district or national rep in the team but he was proud of teams’ performance.
“We are all village boys and playing against some district and national reps was proud moment for our players.”
Prasad said they kept a low profile going into the championship.
“We came here as pride for our district and our community and going back with our heads up.”
Lokia Landing FC almost caused the biggest upset of the Vodafone National Club Champion’s zonal playoffs when they held a star studded Kasavu FC to a 0-0 and gave Bureta FC of Suva a tough game in their 0-1 loss. Prasad said it was a good exposure for small club playing against some top teams.
“It has been a good experience and exposure for our boys as they got chance to rub shoulders against some district and national reps.”
He said they would go back and prepare well for the next season in their local league competition.
‘We will take our experience from here to our local competition and for sure we will come back next year with better performance.”
Navuso Barbarians FC of Tailevu Naitasiri has confirmed their spot in the final-play offs as the best runner-up team from Group B.
